Jae Hyun Park

Jae Hyun is a PhD Candidate in Political Science at the University of Toronto. His dissertation project examines the ongoing civil war in Myanmar to understand why some rebel groups establish large business while continuing to fight the state during civil wars. Additionally, he is also interested in the political legacies of civil war violence in post-war societies, political economy of civil war, and mixed-methods approach to research. His research is supported by the Social Sciences and the Humanities Research Council of Canada and the MINDS Scholarship Initiative by the Department of National Defence of Canada. Prior to his doctoral studies, Jae Hyun worked in the international development sector. There, he developed knowledge transfer and cooperation projects for sustainable urban development in the Asia Pacific region.
